Emily Harris, Program Associate

Emily joined the Foundation in 2017 and she is a Program Associate in the Education Program. She works across the Education portfolio supporting the Policy and Advocacy, STEM, and Character teams. Emily recently finished her dissertation, which explored teacher practice and student learning in the context of community and citizen science. She also conducted research on teacher implementation of a model-based high school biology curriculum. Emily was previously a teacher educator at the California Academy of Sciences where she supported elementary school teachers to adopt equitable and reform-based science teaching practices. She has taught at public schools and universities across the Bay Area as an environmental educator, 2nd grade teacher, and pre-service teacher educator. Emily holds a Ph.D. in science and agricultural education, and an M.S. in ecology, both from the University of California at Davis, an M.A.T. from the University of San Francisco, and a B.A. in from Vassar College.
